Ponsonby Residence
This 1920s character villa in Ponsonby had been through several unsympathetic renovations over the decades, losing much of its original charm. The owners, a young Auckland family, wanted to restore a sense of the home's heritage character while creating a modern, functional space suited to contemporary Kiwi living.
Our approach was to honour the villa's architectural heritage through thoughtful material choices and spatial proportions, while introducing modern comfort and maximising Auckland's abundant natural light. We used native New Zealand timbers—including recycled rimu flooring and tōtara joinery—that reference our country's rich craftsmanship traditions. A restrained, earthy colour palette inspired by New Zealand's natural landscape creates calm throughout.
The result is a home that feels both timeless and fresh—a space where history and modernity coexist in quiet harmony, perfectly suited to Auckland's relaxed lifestyle and indoor-outdoor way of living.
"Working with Srexalonvim transformed our house into a home that truly reflects who we are. Their attention to detail and understanding of our needs was exceptional. We couldn't be happier with the result."
